About JRobotics

J-Robotics is a Ugandan Robotics team located in a small town called Jinja. It was founded in 2012 as a computer club at Jinja Senior Secondary school and then we grew to take part in the Annual LEGO NXT competitions in Kampala. In August 2016 we became VEX team 99885J!

The name "J-Robotics" was given and officially branded to the team in June when a non-profit organisation called Just Cause came from Canada with all the necessary tools and expertise required to start up a robotics team came to our school. They inquired if there were any students who were interested in robotics and were also ready to take on STEAM/STEM education challenges and the current team members stood up and joined this great opportunity. This organisation has been sponsoring us since then and has been providing us with some of the VEX equipment and all our NXT kits plus the recently imported PCs that were sent to us by the same organisation in October 2016. We skype with them when they are away for mentoring and work with them here in Uganda during the summer.

We are also sponsored by Hackers For Charity a United States charity who gave us a huge workspace the "Hackerspace" and WiFi connection, our VEX game field, VEX Clawbots and supervise us while we are there. We are so happy to have this equipment and it is the only in the country. The space they provide us with and the kits allow us to compete in VEX online this season.

Above all we are proud and glad to be part of the VEX

robotics competitions and are working tirelessly hard to excel

and win these competitions. This is our first year taking part

and our first time with many new pieces of equipment, online

publishing and using the RobotC software.
